Jan was born in Trutnov, a town under the mountains near the Polish borders. He always liked the photos of the nearby mountains but this moved him to another inexhaustible divine topic – female nudes.
At age about twenty-five years, Jan began experimenting with light painting, a photographic technique using very long exposure times and working with light. He mostly uses BW medium formate film and after developing he magnifies the prints by himself without any digital manipulation. This unusual technique captivated him and totally dominated his work.
